General Info

Tucked away at Via Isca del Pioppo, 7/O, 85100 Potenza PZ, Italy, Orto E Cucina Da Giò Ristorante Cbt is the kind of restaurant that quietly impresses you from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere feels intimate and relaxed, making it a lovely spot for a romantic dinner or an unhurried evening with friends. The dining room has that cozy Italian charm where table service is attentive without feeling formal, and the gentle hum of conversation makes the space feel warm and welcoming.

The menu leans toward creative Italian cuisine, with dishes that combine vibrant colors and thoughtful ingredients. One plate that instantly stands out is the Gnocchetti Di Patate Viola Con Calamari Su Vellutata Di Zucca. The purple potato gnocchetti are soft and delicate, while the calamari adds a subtle seafood sweetness. Everything rests on a velvety pumpkin cream that brings the dish together beautifully. It’s the sort of plate that feels both comforting and refined.

Seafood lovers will likely gravitate toward the Polpo Croccante Patate Viole E Finocchi all'arancia. The octopus is perfectly crisp on the outside while remaining tender inside. Paired with purple potatoes and fennel infused with orange notes, the flavors feel fresh and balanced. It’s one of those dishes that lingers in your memory long after the meal ends.

The pasta selection also deserves attention. The Ravioli Di Burrata Con Crema Di Pecorino Noci E Menta is rich without being heavy. Creamy burrata fills each ravioli, while pecorino cream adds depth. The walnuts give a gentle crunch, and the hint of mint brightens the entire plate. It’s a combination that shows how thoughtful the kitchen is when building flavors.

For something heartier, the Filetto Di Maiale Su Cavolo Viola offers a satisfying option. The pork fillet is tender and flavorful, complemented by the slightly earthy notes of purple cabbage. The dish feels comforting yet elegant, perfect for a leisurely dinner.

Beyond the food, the overall experience at Orto E Cucina Da Giò Ristorante Cbt feels carefully curated. The service is attentive, and the pace of the evening encourages you to relax and enjoy each course. Guests often linger over coffee after the meal, which rounds out the dining experience nicely. The restaurant also accommodates different dietary preferences, including vegan options, making the menu accessible for a variety of diners.

When browsing reviews or exploring dining locations in Potenza, this restaurant often stands out because of its creative menu and inviting setting. What customers say?

“ From the moment you enter, you can feel the warm welcome. This is made even more pleasant by the genuine smiles of the staff, ready to make you feel like their guests. Meticulous attention is paid to the food, with a brief introduction to their slow cooking techniques demonstrating expertise and passion. The dishes are varied and can be customized, with a delightful presentation and captivating flavor, from appetizers to dessert. ”

“ A warm welcome from the moment we entered the restaurant until the moment we left. Kindness, friendliness, and smiles were never lacking. The restaurant is well-maintained, as are the dishes on the menu. Gio and Karma made us feel at ease and explained the philosophy behind their project. Truly innovative and interesting. We were so excited and curious that we wanted to try every course, and in fact, we had appetizer, first course, second course, and dessert. The ingredients used were extremely fresh and local. The dishes were simple yet refined, with a wealth of colors and flavors. We will definitely be returning many more times. A restaurant that, in our opinion, deserves much more fame and attention than it already has. ”

- Alessia Vena -

“ What better gift than a delicious artisanal panettone after a meal that becomes a sensory experience of pure well-being? Quality in the food, the company, the ambiance, and the knowledge of raw materials are transformed into works of art by the two sisters who put love and dedication into everything they do, say, and cook. Poetry for the palate. Potenza also has its gems, and Orto e Cucina is one of them. ”

“ Great place! We stopped in Provenza for lunch in our way from Matera to Napoles. The ladies in the restaurant were super nice with us, and the food was great. Traditional food with a modern touch at a good price. Easy parking. ”

“ Zero curb appeal but absolutely delicious. Go here! ”

“ A wonderful discovery. Excellent service, quality food, and dishes that showcase authentic flavors. As a bodybuilding athlete, I care deeply about the value of nutrition, so I felt right at home. I was able to enjoy all the benefits of slow-cooked dishes. Excessive seasoning is unnecessary when QUALITY IS THE PRIORITY. Try it and believe it! And if you particularly like something, you can also purchase the ingredients pre-cooked and enjoy them at home. What can I say? I'm very satisfied and highly recommended. ”

“ Orto&Cucina: a magnificent gem hidden among the streets of Potenza. Starting from the restaurant, the atmosphere is very welcoming thanks to the unique furnishings, the perfect lighting, and the pleasant background music that accompanies the meal. As you can see from the photos, the kitchen is open, and in the dining room there's a large refrigerator where you can see the various ingredients that will go into the dishes. In fact, the gem of the restaurant is the fact that most of the dishes are cooked using low-temperature cooking, which preserves and enhances the flavors of the ingredients. Every dish we tried definitely exceeded expectations. The elegance of the plating, the care with which they were described, and the research behind every single dish make the restaurant truly extraordinary. And finally, I can talk about the service, which can't be described as such because it's truly a treat. Giovanna and Carmela are wonderful people. It's truly unique to find something like this, not just in Potenza but everywhere. You're greeted with unparalleled attentiveness, every request is promptly fulfilled, and every single dish is meticulously described with astonishing passion. Furthermore, when they found out it was my birthday, they accompanied the delicious dessert I chose with little chocolate letters. An experience like this is impossible to describe in words, so I highly recommend stopping by this little place that truly is magical. I hope to return soon, but above all, I hope more and more people learn about it because it's truly worth it. ”

“ Carmela and Giovanna are wonderful hosts (thank goodness there are still people like that...): friendly, helpful, and always ready to share their experiences. The location is simple, bright, and authentic, just like them, perfectly reflecting their image and personality. The menu was excellent. We chose it together, without any restrictions or conventions, with great openness to every need. Even with food intolerances, there was always a valid solution, without ever compromising quality. In the photos, you can find the itinerary we chose: we couldn't rank it, because it was a crescendo of sensations, made up of authentic colors, aromas, and flavors—all the way to dessert. P.S.: The sensory experience of the molecular spheres at the end of the meal is incredible...must try!!! For the 5th star, I'm waiting for Giò to enrich the wine list with wineries capable of showcasing their extraordinary dishes to the fullest—perhaps even including biodynamic wines. ”
